My brother passed away on December 14th, 2019. A local funeral home in Mobile Alabama handled his arrangements. Within his arrangements we trusted pine rest funeral home in Foley Alabama with his body to be prepared for cremation. My brother's funeral was December 28th and he arrived at pine rest funeral home towards the beginning of January. Whenever my brother's body left the funeral home in Mobile there was a ring that I left on his finger because I was unable to get it off prior to leaving for cremation because it was stuck....so I trusted pine rest funeral home to remove it from his finger prior to cremation. A few weeks pass by and I checked to see if he had been cremated. I heard nothing back. On February 3rd I called to check to see if they had his ring. That's when I spoke to the general manager, Mr. Tim Street. The conversation was very unpleasant at that point. I recorded the whole thing. I asked Mr. Tim if they had my brothers ring. That's when he told me that he was going to go in the back and check and see if they had it. That's when I realized that my brother still had not been cremated. I found out after the fact that they had down for my brother to be buried even though we decided from the very beginning that he was going to be cremated. He was approved for cremation finally on January 21st 2020. Yet on February 3rd he still had not been cremated. When Mr. Tim returned to the phone he elaborated me that he did not see my brother's ring. I knew better. I asked him a few more times and he stuck with the original answer that he did not see the ring. Then he went on to tell me that he was informed that my brother had a contagious disease and his first time going back there where to see my brother was whenever I called about the ring. He also stated that they had WRAPPED my brother up in PLASTIC because of the contagious disease. Before my brother arrived at pine rest funeral home he was embalmed and fully disinfected. Mr Tim and the funeral home should know that. The fact that he even was comfortable enough to tell me that he wrapped my brother up in plastic was very unethical and unprofessional. My family has been hurt by these actions. I reached out to the funeral home 2 weeks ago and relayed a message to be contacted. I have yet to hear anything....not even an apology. The rep who took my call was very rude. May I also add that 10 minutes after speaking to Mr. Tim he called the funeral home in Mobile and told them that they found the ring on my brother's hand after more searching. My brother was a dark-skinned complected man & the ring was light silver so I don't understand how they did not see it from the first time that I called. I do not recommend anyone to use this funeral home. The professionalism and compassion was definitely not there. When my brother's remains finally came to the funeral home on the 6th of February... I noticed something very disturbing. Not only were there grease stains on top of the box but they did not treat my brother with the same respect that they do everyone else that they cremate. Usually when people are cremated by the funeral home they put a sticker on there with the name, date of death and date of cremation. My brother's box just had his first and middle initial and last name scribbled on top of the box. my family is truly hurt behind the actions of this funeral home. Again I do not recommend anyone to use them. If you respect your family members final dignity please head my warning.

  • After growing up with this local funeral home handling services for our family for years, Pine Rest handled the funeral services for both my Mom and Grandmother in the last two years and they were absolutely amazing. My sisters and I were forced to be the adults for the first time and make those heartwrenching decisions that come with death but Pine Rest went above and beyond to make sure that they were there for us every step of the way. Jessica was absolutely amazing to us through it all and I am forever grateful. Growing up with Jessica and knowing the Spivey Family personally only made our experience that much better. Thank you again.
